Analysis on the thermal behavior of lump coal used in COREX melter gasifier
The high temperature pyrolysis behavior of lump coal is crucial important in COREX melter gasifier,which determines energy utilization and gas composition,as well as metallurgical property and particle size of semicokeproduced.In this study,the pyrolysis characteristics of the coal used in COREX melter gasifier were investigated.Thermal behavior of the Xinglongzhuang coal and Datong coal was studiedby TG-MS at the heating rate of 20℃/min,and in thefixed-bed reactorattemperature ranging from 950℃ to 1 200℃.Results show that the pyrolysis process of two coal samples with temperature increasing has similar characteristics which could be divided into four stages,and the main pyrolysis temperature range is between 300℃ and 800℃ with large amounts of gas species evolved.The pyrolysis process of two lump coals with time increasing includes three stages: the first is water release accompanying a small quantity of devolatilization,the second is devolatilization,and the third is stabilization.It is also found that the stacking height of graphite-like crystallite layer along the c-axis is gradually increases with temperature increasing,the micro graphite spacing decreases and the crystal size increases while raising the pyrolysis temperature.
