High power induction machines in rolling mill processes

摘要：

　　The paper reviews the different electrical driving technologies used these last years for the rolling mill applications.In recent years,Cycloconverter fed Synchronous motor was largely privileged because of the penalizing effects on the network of the Cycloconverter fed Induction motor.The introduction of the new high power PWM converters promotes largely the application of Induction motor,by equalizing the Synchronous and Induction motors effects on the network and equipment sizing.The recent year progress on the field - oriented control provides now to the Induction machine,the same control performances as those of the Synchronous motor.In addition,with a more simple and robust construction,the Induction motor can be considered as the most promising solution from now.
