Global Supply Chain Risk Management Strategies from China
This paper is based on Ila Manuj and John T.Mentzer”s research (Global supply chain management strategies, 2008).It goes further in their research refining their findings and filling some of the gaps they mention.It focuses on Supply Chains with suppliers in China and overseas” buyers.Purpose-China has become the world”s largest exporter.Savings are high.Risks too.Based on Ila Manuj and John T.Mentzer”s research this paper introduces concepts and definitions of Supply Chain Risk Management from China,explores strategies to be implemented to manage Supply Chain risks when buying from China and develop findings and fills gaps highlighted by Ila Manuj and John T.Mentzer.Methodology-This research is based on basic Supply Chain Risk Management literature,on Ila Manuj and John T.Mentzer”s research and on qualitative in-depth interviews with 10 professionals acting on Supply Chains with suppliers located in China.Findings-The study provides further qualitative data to Ila Manuj and John T.Mentzer”s research to refine and develop the 6 strategies and 3 moderators it highlights.Implications-The paper offers managers acting on Supply Chains with suppliers in China with further information on the directions given by Ila Manuj and John T.Mentzer.Contribution-This research provides in-depth and concrete data from professionals from various companies and areas (Logistics,manufacturing, trading, industrial services,exporter, importer) acting on Supply Chains with suppliers located in China and overseas”buyers.
