Copoly:Enhancing Collaboration in Board Games on Tabletop with Mobile Phones
In this paper,we introduce collaboration into augmented tabletop games and study how collaboration affects game experience.The tabletop serves as the public workspace while mobile phones as private ones.Besides,we propose the group workspace for collaboration by supporting communication between players via mobile phones.Based on the popular board game Monopoly,we leverage these three workspaces and design a game,named Copoly.In this game,Players can form a permanent group at the beginning,as well as temporary groups in the process.A qualitative and quantitative user study was conducted to explore the collaboration in group workspace and its effect on game experience.Results indicate that players gained a more joyful game experience through collaboration.
