“Media Design for Liquid Filtration Application”
Currently ISO (International Organization for Standardization),CEN (European Committee for Standardization) and ASHRAE (American Society of Heating,Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers) are in process of introducing the energy efficiency classification or method for determining the energy impact of the filtration devices.It indicates that the initial pressure drop and the life of any filter are getting more attentions than before.Multi-layered nonwoven material increases the performance of the filtration products,especially making a long life with increasing the dust holding capacity if it is designed appropriately.The flow characteristic through the filter media is a quite important matter for liquid filtration application.This paper illustrates how to design the multi-layer filtration media,and to test the flow behavior through the filter media by a simple hands-on experiment.
