A new strategic direction based on theory of probability in empirical antibiotic treatment for nosocomial bloodstream infection
Probit analysis is statistical method used to evaluate uncertain events.In this article,we retrospectively analyzed the distribution of the pathogens and the antibiotic susceptibility from 262 patients between 1st July,2010 and 1st July,2011.The probability of success treatment was calculated on statistic principles,and the actual efficiency of 68 patients in next three months was assessed.Results showed that the probability of successful with single antibotic was less than 70% and combined therapy can increase probability of success significantly.Probit analysis method can roughly predict therapeutic outcomes with mathematical model,which can provide clinicians a new strategic direction in antibiotic treatments.
