Study on Anti-Interference Algorithm for Clouds Based on Infrared Small Targets Image

There are many clouds except the real targets in detector’s focal plane array when the infrared surveillance system(IRSS) searches for targets in distance, which will impact the system performance badly. In order to improve detection probability,a new algorithm based on shape characters of target for IRSS was raised in this paper.Firstly, the algorithm removes background noise to enhance the SNR of infrared image by mathematical morphology filtering. And then, based on the characters of targets’ head and tail, constant false alarm ratio (CFAR) detection is used to separate potential targets from clouds interference.Compared with the result of traditional algorithms, the new algorithm can more fasterly decrease clouds interference, and is more helpful to increase detection probability of infrared small target.
