Expression and relationship of pro-inflammatory cytokine in spleen of heat-stressed broilers

Using real-time quantitative RT-PCR, we evaluated the effect of heat stress on expression of mRNA for pro-inflammatory (interleukin-1β, IL-6, IL-12α, IL-12β), Th1 (INF-γ and IL-2) and Th2 (IL-4 and IL-10) cytokine genes in spleen of broilers. All these results indicate that there was no significant main effect of Egg treatment.Sample day was significant effect on the cytokine mRNA levels with exception of IL-1β and IL-2 (p< 0.05).Acute heat stress significantly enhanced expression of mRNA for IL-6, IL-12β, IL-12α, IL-10 and IFN-γ (p<0.05).However, Irrespective of the duration of exposure, heat stress had no significantly effect on IL-1β and IL-2.Only correlation between IL-2 and IL-4 was enhanced significantly during heat stress (r=0.7304, p=0.007<0.01).
