Recent progress on ginseng chemistry
Panax ginseng has long been known as an important medicinal resource and nutrition for thousands of years,and ginsenosides are considered as the major pharmacologically active ingredients, which have a complex structure and are responsible for multiple pharmacological actions.In this article, we will report the recent ginseng research on chemistry aspect.The results are mainly from Jilin ginseng academy, Changchun university of TCM.The applications of the update mass spectrometry techniques are emphasized.We will divide our works into three parts: First, chemical analysis of ginseng saponin.Second, analysis of other compounds related to ginseng.Third,urine metabonomics study of murine dosed with ginseng.Several examples are followed in the different parts,which reflect our recent research data and results.
