Green Lifts-A Review from Hong Kong Perspective
The theme of the “International Forum on Solutions of Greening in Operations and Innovative Talents” of the 2013 Annual Meeting of China Association for Science and Technology is on the green management of logistics,operations and transportation.It is known that cities are saturated with high rise buildings and lifts account for the only transportation mean within such buildings.So,the provision of energy efficient lifts is one key issue in green buildings,then green cities and finally a green world.In this article,various technologies and developments related to energy efficient lifts is discussed,with a focus on Hong Kong.The paper is concluded by an introduction to the recent development of open and common protocols for lifts and escalators,which address the issue of energy consumption.
