Optimization of the High-density RFID Reader Deployment in a Large and Irregular Area

RFID (Radio frequency identification) technology has been used in many applications,such as access control,cargo tracking and indoor location.Due to the limited reading region of a RFID reader,it usually needs multiple readers to cover a large area.In this paper,we decentralize the deployment area and the reader reading region,and propose a heuristic algorithm to deploy readers based on the PSO (particle swarm optimization) algorithm.The simulations show that the proposed algorithm can cover an irregular area with a high coverage rate and a low overlapping rate.
