Added Value of 3D and 4D Ultrasound in the Diagnosis of Fetal Cardiac Malformations
Late advances in the technology of 3D/4D ultrasound systems allow almost realtime 3D/4D fetal heart scans.3D/4D ultrasound in fetal echocardiography has made significant contribution to inter disciplinary management team consultation, health delivery systems, parental counseling, and professional training.3D/4DUS offers many advantages such as access to virtual planes not available for direct visualization in 2DUS,and multiplanar reconstruction to view 3 orthogonal planes simultaneously. The navigation dot in MPR provides positioning and orientation assistance to the operator. There are functional cardiology analyses that can only be performed with 3D/4D technologies.
