Ebstein:current results with the ”cone” procedure

At the German Heart Center Munich,157 patients with Ebstein anomaly were treated from 1976 to December 2012.Most recently,we have mainly adopted the ”cone” repair. This approach was described by da Silva,a surgeon from S(a)o Panlo. It helps to cover 360° of the right AV junction with leaflet tissue, allowing leaflet to leaflet coaptation. The ”cone” operation allows therefore for an ”anatomical” repair.Usually, valve replacement can be avoided. The tricuspid valve after ”cone” correction can also grow with the patient. Our long—term results on our whole cohort suggest that surgical intervention ought not to be performed at an older age.Keeping with a strict pre—and postoperative protocol we have improved our institutional decision making.
