What are the indications for video-assisted surgery for mitral prolapse
Video assisted mitral valve surgery has yet reached a routine state practice.After a phase of multiple developments and attempts,this technic relies commonly on a right side thoracotomy in the Fifth intercostal space.Cardiopulmonary bypass is established through a femoro—femoral bypass with either a bicaval or single femoral venous drainage.Arterial perfusion is using either an ante grade or retrograde cannula.Myocardial protection has been improved and adapted to this surgery using a single shot of transplantation preser vation solution such as Custodiol.Monitoring of bypass using N.I.R.S.and trans oesophageal echocardiography systematically has also improved the safety of this procedure and is mandatory.
