Which information should have the surgeon from the echocardiography for mitral repair?
The importance of eehocardiography for mitral valve repair doesn”t need to be demonstrated anymore since the quality of second harmonic in trans thoracic or trans oesophageal echoeardiography has been routinely used in commercially available devices.The standardised description of mitral lesions and even more functional pathology from Carpentier description has authorised the surgeon and the eehocardiography to communicate together with a common language,improving the understanding of lesions.This communication implies the recognition from the echocardiography of the standardized segmental anatomy of the mitral valve.With experience,the standardisation ofTrans oesophageal vues has dramatically improved the communication between the surgeon and the cardiologist or the specialized anaesthetic.This communication is based on 5 view:4 chambers rue,long axis view median and Para median,short axis view,2 chamber view.There should be known for the surgeon as the echocardiographs.
