Association of echocardiographic left ventricular structure with the-344C/T aldosterone synthase gene variant
Left ventricular hypertrophy is one of the important factors for cardiovascular disease. Many studies have shown that the aldosterone synthase gene (CYP11B2)-344C/T can affect aldosterone synthesis and thus participate in the change of left ventricular function, but its relationship with left ventricular structure is still unclear. This meta—analysis was purposed to detect the relationship between the CYP1 1B2-344C/T variation and the left ventricular function and structure.Literatures related to the CYPl 1B2-344C/T and left ventricular structure indicators (including the LVM/LVMI,LVPWT,IVS,LVEDV,LVEDD and LVESD) were extracted from PubMed database, and 20 studies met the inclusion criteria.A random effects model was used to evaluate the various indicators. No significant relationship was detected between CYP1 1B2-344C/T and any indicator of left ventricular structure. The result remained basically unchanged after adjusting confounding factors such as disease and race, except LVESD and IVS association for-344C/T comparing TT with CC in EH group.
