Investigation of Air-conditioning Systems Using SSLC Technology
The paper first presents the experimental investigation on performance improvement of air-conditioning system with R410A and CO2 by using the desiccant wheel-assisted separate sensible and latent cooling technology.The COP improvement was experimentally found to be limited,only 7%,when the DW regeneration temperature was set to be 50℃.The idea of divided heat exchangers was then proposed to improve the COP.In light of the divided heat exchanger,other performance-enhancing options such as evaporative cooling and enthalpy wheels can also be applied.The COP improvements of different system configurations were calculated and reported.The highest COP (5.7 for R410A system,5.9 for CO2 system) comes from using the combination of divided heat exchanger,evaporative cooling and enthalpy wheel.As a design guideline for the separate sensible and latent cooling system,brushless DC motor driven fans are recommended to address the higher volume flow rate of supply air in the systems.
