Status of the Wild Resource and Conservation of the Endangered Asian Plant Medicine Agarwood

　　Agarwood is a high-valued traditional medicine and incense in Asia.The major resource of this medicine is the genus Aquilaria of the family Thymelaeaeeae.Owing to the increased international market of agarwood and the destruct of the Aquilaria habitat,most species in this genus are in danger or in threat.For the purpose of exploiting the agarwood in a proper range and with correct approaches to make sure the sustainable supply of this traditional medicine,this paper focused on the status of wild resource,cultivation,exploitation and conservation of Aqiularia spp.in the agarwood producing countries.Some approaches about the appropriated use and protection of Aquilaria species were also suggested here.
