Covering cooling demand of office room in Helsinki by using wet-surface heat exchanger

Indirect evaporative cooling is considered as an energy efficient, environmentally friendly,CO2 emissions reduction and sustainable method. The most significant advantages of indirect evaporative cooling system is expressed by being able to achieve ultimate temperature to dew point temperature, and having constant moisture content in cooling process.Such air cooler strategy accomplishes by single stage regenerative-counter flow principle,in which air flows into the dry channel manipulated to the wet channel. This is implemented in the end of dry channel and causes the dry air to be cooled before branching to the wet channel. Also, the novel wet-surface heat exchanger is explained by modified effectiveness-NTU method. The aim of this research is to model and simulate a novel cooler to produce comfort environment for office room case study in Helsinki, and analyze the result of cooler performance.Simulating the wet-surface heat exchanger,as the new component of the dynamic simulation environment software such as IDA Indoor Climate and Energy (IDA ICE),needs to be modeled in the Neutral Model Format (NMF) environment. Then, the mathematical model is able to be added in IDA ICE 4 and simulate the case study in various climates.Consequently, such heat exchanger is capable to prepare the comfort indoor conditions and omit electrical cooling energy demand for vapour compressor machines in Helsinki regions.
