Research on Controlling Water Quality of the Mixed Water of Desalted Water and Running Water Transmitted in Existing Drinking Water Distribution Systems
The dynamic pilot scale experiments and static immersion experiments were done to study the effect of chemical parameters on iron release and turbidity when the mixed water of running water and desalinated water transmitted and distributed in drinking water distribution systems. The parameters include the different mixing ratios of running water and desalinated water,pH,alkalinity, chloride and sulfate. It was found that when the mixing ratio of running water and desalinated water 3:1,the iron release rate and turbidity change rate is smaller, the water quality is better. When the pH value was about 8.2,the phenomenon of iron release and the turbidity was controlled effectively. The improvement of alkalinity could reduce the turbidity and concentration of total iron. The concentration of total iron increased with the concentration of chloride and sulfate increasing. So,to guarantee the safety distribution of the mixed water of running water and desalinated water in drinking water distribution systems, the water quality condition should meet that the best mixing ratio of running water and desalinated water was 3∶1,pH value was about 8.2,and alkalinity was higher than 110mg/L.
