Nitrogen Removal in an A/A/O Pilot Plant with Nitrifier Bioaugmentation
Nitrogen removal in pilot-scale A/A/O system which bioaugmented with nitrifiers cultivated by reject water treating municipal wastewater was studied. The process of nitrogen removal was evaluated when temperature changed from 10℃ to 25 ℃.The results showed that the removal efficiency of NH4+-N increased with temperature and was consistent with the changing 0f nitrification activity. The activity of AOB increased faster in the range of 15℃ and 20℃ than that in the range of 10℃ and 15℃.However,the activity of NOB was increased more stably in the whole range of 10℃ and 20℃.AOB adapted more quickly than NOB during bioaugnentation.Besides, the pilot-scale and the full-scale system had a similar community structure. In spite of the lower nitrifying bacteria number, the nitrification activity ofbioaugmented pilot-scale plant was still higher than that in full-scale WWTP.
