Nutrients Removal in Pilot-scale Variable-speed Oxidation Ditch System with Fine Bubble under Low DO Concentration
Sewage treatment facilities in china needed upgrading to comply with saving energy and strictly new effluent requirements for COD,nutrients and TSS in order to control eutrophication, providing reliable nitrogen and phosphorus removal.A novel variable-speed oxidation ditch process was exploited to treat domestic wastewater from the Grit basin ofXi”an 4th WWTP.Its Sludge characteristics and nutrient removal are investigated in this study for a novel variable speed OD based on hydraulic flow balance, fine bubble and low DO concentration. The results demonstrated that this novel OD can meets saving energy and strict effluent nutrient and arrive at Standard A of the first class in discharge standard of pollutants for municipal wastewater treatment plant(GB18918-2002).It also showed achieved a higher removal efficiency of about 60% for total nitrogen by SND with HRT of 10-15 h,and the concentrations of COD,NH3-N,TN,TP and SS in effluent are less than 50mg/1,5mg/1,15mg/1,1mg/1 and 20mg/1 respectively,Under the normal operation that SRT,HRT,DO at aeration end,SS and water temperature were respectively 10-15days,12 hours,0.8-1.0mg/1,3000-5000mg/1,and 10-26℃.Therefore this design conception for variable speed OD was be value to apply to practical process in the future.
