Draft Genome Sequence ofStreptomyces sp.AA1529,Isolated from the Yellow Sea
Streptomyces, the largest genus of actinobacteria,is a remarkably rich source of natural products, accounting for production of over two-thirds of commercially available antibiotics today. This genus still produces a larger number and a wider variety of new antibiotics than members of any other genus. Here we report the draft genome sequence of a Streptomyces strain,AA1529,isolated from marine sediment of the Yellow Sea,which consists of 109 contigs totaling 7,285,977 bases with an average GC content of 72.8%,predicting 6,334 open reading frames,5 rRNA operons (16S-23S-5S),and 58 tRNA genes. Its genome encodes a subset of unique genes and gene clusters for diverse secondary metabolites, including a variety of terpenoids and polyketides, and provides a genetic basis for further investigation of this strain”s chemical biology, indicating great promise as a source for rational screening of novel bioactive compounds.
