In vivo metabolism study of bergenin in rats by HPLC-QTOF mass spectrometry
Bergenin is the major component of Ardisia creanta sims (A.creanta) and Rodgersia sambucifolia hemsl (R.sambucifolia) with a wide range of biological activities.Bergenin has been used to treat human diseases in China for years, while its metabolism mechanism is not well understood and its metabolism have not been well studied. In this study,we used HPLC/Q-TOF-MS to investigate the major metabolites of bergenin in vivo by analyzing the rat body fluid and feces samples.Totally three bergenin metabolites were identified by SCAN and their structure were confirmed by MS/MS spectra. The established HPLC/Q-TOF-MS method can also be applied to identifying unknown metabolites of the drugs.
