Thermodynamic modeling of the Mg-Pb and the Cd-Mg-Pb systems
In this study,the thermodynamic assessment of the Cd-Mg-Pb ternary system was carried out using the CALPHAD (CALculation of the PHAse Diagram) technique.Among the constituent binary systems of this ternary,the Mg-Pb binary system was optimized using the mcdified quasichemical model in literature and was re-optimized using the substitutional/sublattice model in the present work.Good agreements were obtained between the calculated results and the corresponding experimental data for both the thermochemical properties and the phase equilibrium relations.Combined with the literature reported thermodynamic data for the Cd-Mg and the Cd-Pb binaries and the present re-optimization for the Mg-Pb system,the Cd-Mg-Pb ternary system was modeled.The liquidus projection of the Cd-Mg-Pb ternary system was calculated and compared with the experimental data.The reaction scheme of the invariant reactions was reasonably presented.
