Development of Water Saving &Solid Recovery Type Kitchen Waste ProcessingSystem (K-disposer Apartment system)in House High-Rise
Strong policies on the food waste recycling have conducted successfully in Korea since the enforcement of nationwide volume based solid waste discharge fee system in 1995,but some problems on the complete implementation of the policies are still remained.Disposer system to treat kitchen waste is not permitted yet but now considering measures in Korea.However it is one of urgent problems to be solved in this highly developed society that a convenient and clean method of food waste processing system for separate collection and recycling of high-rise apartment.Water-saving & solid-recovery type kitchen waste processing system (K-disposer system) was developed and evaluated.We examined the solid recovered rate and discharged rate after size reduction with specially designed size attenuator and solid/liquid separation system and the quality of effluent and nutritional content of input kitchen waste and recovered solid.Approximately 42.2% of solid from kitchen waste was recovered in clean and freshstate and less than 20% was discharged in soluble and particle state witheffiuent.It was observed that most of the nutritive values have increased in their compositions except carbohydrate.The salinity level of the recovered solid had 0.9%,which was approximately 58% lower than that of the input kitchen waste sample.
