pH Responsivity, Thermal Properties and Surface Properties of Brush Copolymers with Different Backbone Structures:Random, Block,Gradient
pH-responsive brush copolymers based on block,random and gradient copolymers of methyl methacrylate (MMA) and 2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate (HEMA) as the backbone component and hydrophilic poly(acrylic acid) (PAA) as the side chain were synthesized by ATRP.The intermediates and final products were characterized by NMR,FTIR spectroscopy and GPC.The self-assembly behavior and pH responsivity of the copolymers were also investigated by TEM and DLS.Thermal behavior and surface properties were systematically investigated using DSC and static water contact angles (SWCA) respectively.Experimental results indicate that thermal properties,pH responsivity and surface properties of the brush copolymers are different due to the different backbone composition.
