The 2012 powder diffraction file: content, quality and capabilities

X-ray Powder Diffraction continues to play a major role in the characterization process of crystalline materials because the diffraction pattern of a material contains precise information about its particular chemical and structural nature.Since the mid 1930”s,it was realized the need to collect,archive and classify the diffraction patterns of known compounds for later use in the identification of the constituents of a given sample.
