A Simulation Evaluation Platform for the Next Generation Broadcasting Wireless Network
Next Generation Broadcasting Network (NGB) is the evolution of current broadcasting system.Designed with innovative network architecture,NGB is aiming at providing people with all round services at a high data rate.Together with NGB cable (NGB-C),NGB wireless (NGB-W) system plays a vital role for the access network of NGB.Design and optimization of NGB-W are crucial to the performance and reliability of NGB network. To facilitate the evaluation of new thoughts and ideas for NGB-W,a novel simulation evaluation platform for NGB-W,an event-driven simulator,is developed. The platform implements the basic protocol stack model and realizes the basic functionalities for the network elements.Connected in hierarchical order by separate interfaces, the conventional protocol entities can be replaced by newly designed ones conveniently.Specially,a new Medium Access Control (MAC) protocol is introduced for NGB-W and has been implemented in the platform.Besides, visual graphical user interface demonstrates the simulation scenario and statistic indicators in real time.Features covered by the simulation evaluation platform will facilitate the test and evaluation of new protocols and technologies, thus optimize the design and implementation of NGB-W.
