Study on Web Performance of Chinese Universities
In order to get a view of web presence and impact of Chinese universities,the paper conducts a comprehensive evaluation on the web performance of Chinese universities.Five primary indicators,that the number of published web pages,the number of rich fries,the number of articles gathered from the Google Scholar,the total number of external inlinks,the total number of related pages and term page views collected from Baidu are taken into account.Combined with ”Webometrics Ranking of World”s Universities”,the results show that there is a larger than expected academic digital divide between Chinese universities and those in other countries or regions.Chinese universities should reconsider their web policies to promote substantial increases of the volume and quality of their electronic publications.Peking University,Tsinghua University and Zhejiang University together with other 7 universities have better web performance than other Chinese universities,and so on.
