The Concepts of Nature Reinterpretation Manifested in Ancient Chinese Gardens and their Technical Features —Focusing on the Ground Expression of Yang Zhou Gardens at Jiang Su, China—

Ancient Chinese gardens reflect an ideal inherent in the oriental people”s thoughts a.nd culture:to live an eco-friendly life in a harmonious way.This study is designed to take a look at nature-representing techniques reflected at space of ancient gardens in Yang Zhou,which were created by the Han race,and are characterized by a developed waterway against the backdrop of Jiang Nan,the preserved area of ancient Chinese gardens as cultural essence.Yang Zhou,in particular,has had a culture of water management for about a thousand years since the canal was constructed by the Sui dynasty.This study aims at contributing to the expression of ancient Chinese gardens by looking into their nature-applying techniques at a certain district (Yang Zhou) with its own local culture and making an intense analysis of their ground parts as the subject of expression with the help of understanding the social culture of the area associated with the reinterpretation of nature appearing in ancient Chinese gardens.
