Identification of a Resistance Gene to Rice Blast in a Space-induced Rice Mutant
Utilization of resistance (R) genes has been proven the most effective and economical approach to control rice blast. The space-induced rice mutant H4 expresses broad-spectrum resistance to most of isolates collected from Cuangdong province,China. To understand its resistance to rice blast, genetic and mapping analysis of the blast resistance (R) gene in H4 were conducted.Genetic analysis indicated that blast resistance to a representative isolate was controlled by a single dominant locus designated as Pih4 (t).Highly susceptible F2 individuals were performed with linkage analysis, the Pih4 (t) locus was preliminarily linked to markers RM224 and RM27360 with,(~) 1.04 cM and 1.2 cM in the long arm of chromosome 11,respectively.Our current study provides essential information for the cloning of the Pih4 (t) gene and for marker-assisted selection in rice breeding for blast resistance.
