Study on Rice OsPR-4b Gene and Promoter Characterization
A rice PR4 family gene OsPR-4b is an acid protein with the molecular weight of 16.47 kDa.OsPR-4b was induced by BTH,a novel chemical activator of disease systemic acquired resistance(SAR).Recombinant OsPR-4b protein expressed in Escherichia coll showed antifungal activity in vitro against the sheath blight fungus Rhizoctonia solani.Further study showed that the OsPR-4b was induced by fungal elicitor in suspension cultured rice cells.Transformation of onion cells with GFP fused OsPR-4b showed this protein localized in the cytoplasm. The GUS fused promoter deletions were transformed into tobacco for promoter analysis and the 57 bp sequence from-826 to-883 upstream of the coding region of the OsPR-4b gene was found to be the key regulatory region.
