30 years” review of hydropower automation
The evolution and progress of automation in terms of computerized supervision and control system for hydropower plants,hydrological information telemetering system and hydro-turbine governor and regulators was reviewed since 1978.H9000 system was developed and a more advanced H9000 V4.0 system has been successfully applied to the Right Bank Power Station of Three Gorges.New products for communication technologies,such as satellite,GSM,have been developed and widely applied from reservoir monitoring to river basin multi-reservoir monitoring and joint operation.Several important technologies,such as lightningprotection,relay station,governor (fast switching,logic cartridge valve),etc.,are described.With 30 years effort,IWHR has developed a number of technologies of its own proprietary and automation system,applied in hundreds of hydropower projects,such as Three Gorges.These achievements make China among the world leading in hydropower automation technology and application.
