The effect of the first heavy rainfall event on soil and nitrogen losses in different slope gradient newploughed fields
In this paper, the characteristics of soil and nitrogen losses at the first heavy rainfall event after were studied. The results indicated that soil and nitrogen concentration in runoff varied with different treatments, significant relationships between losses and slope gradient were found; Sediment nitrogen and total dissoluble nitrogen (TDN) losses were almost equal, accounted for approximately 40% of total losses, nitrate nitrogen (NH3 - - N) was the dominated species, reached more than 60%.Compared to large slope gradient fallow surface coverage and farmer activities have distinct effect on soil and nitrogen losses.Thereupon,it is very important to select reasonable planting structure and farming time for soil and nutrients conversion in Three Gorges Reservoir Area (TGRA).
