The Value and Protection of Korean Cretaceous Dinosaur Coast for The UNESCO World Heritage Inscription
Korean paleontologists have discovered remarkable dinosaur footprints,dinosaur bones,pterosaurs,crocedilian skulls,complete skeletons of fishes,and partial skeletons of turtles from Cretaceous beds.Southern coast of the Korean Peninsula brought the world-renowned sites for Cretaceous dinosaur and bird tracks.Korean dinosaur trackways provide vital information of Eurasian dinosaurs that explain different types of movement and social behavior.The smallest sauropod trackway along an adult trackway was found in Goseong County.The ornithopods trackways with sauropods in many localities indicate unique paleoecology for the Cretaceous fauna.A famous dinosaur trackway site in Haenam County produced the world” s largest pterosaur tracks.Most of the dinosaur tracks have been studied and recognized by ichnologists and paleontologists since 1982.
