The Korean Natural History Research Information System(NARIS):Updated
The national natural history research database system,the Korean Natural History Research Information System(NARIS),has been constructed.The system was firstly released on Dec.2004 with 20,294 catalogs of specimens,and is provided by WWW(http://www.naris.go.kr) to fulfill its role as a GBIF node.The system is composed of four main services:they are portal,managing,searching and cyber museum services.The portal service is characterized by theme of this week,discovery(VOD),green mailing,wording dictionary,linking to other databases,and so on...The managing service consists mainly of natural history managing,general information managing and statistics managing.The searching service includes unified search,taxon search and detailed search.The cyber museum comprises spider,bird,fossil,insect,fish,seashell,amphibian/reptile,mushroom,mammal and plant museums.Up to now,the NARIS has been improved to integrate 11 other institutions and to catalog additional 83,328 catalogs of specimens and 538,244 biological information data.
