Mobile Unit Offers Nature Experiences for Special Audiences -Public Outreach and Education
Traditionally exhibitions in natural history museums are on display in closed dioramas and the public has no opportunity to touch the museum specimens. This causes great disadvantages for visually impaired. To provide services especially for the blind,we designed a hands-on mobile unit, which includes objects that can be touched and experienced with multiple senses. The secret closet conceals its contents only in the presence of a guide.Bones, mammal skins, feathers, antlers and casts of footprints are found? and different animal voices are played. This service has been very popular among ordinary kindergarten groups as well.Since the unit is very compact(approx.1m x 1,5m x 2m) it is constantly borrowed by other museums for their special happenings.
