Joint Design of Loss Recovery and Congestion Control for Reliable Multicast in MANETs

How to reduce loss recovery latency and improve network throughput while ensuring the reliability of multicast is the key issue for designing a reliable multicast protocol in mobile ad-hoc networks (MANETs).In this paper,we first investigate how the lost recovery and congestion control impact the multicast performance in MANETs and then propose a joint design of local lost recovery and congestion control and design a reliable multicast protocol (called ReMLoc) based our idea.Ns2 sinulation experiments show that the performance of ReMLoC is satisfactory in both sparse and dense MANETs,and demonstrate the effectiveness of the joint design for reliable multicast in MANETs.
