Virtual Breast Model for Surgical Skills Training in Breast and Plastic Surgery

In 2000 initial research and development began to try and produce a model for teaching the methods of breast reduction surgery.The model we desired had to be relatively cheap,of materials suitable for surgical simulation and anatomically realistic.After experimenting with food gelatin compounds and dental mould,a latex-coated polyurethane foam was selected as the ideal material.Selected patients were used for obtaining human breast casts that were then used to construct multiple virtual breast models.
