Weight Loss and Regain after RYGB Surgery in a Rat Model
The clinical issues for dealing with morbid obesity are reviewed. The regain of body weights after surgical treatments remains a puzzling focus.A Roux-en-Y Gastric Bypass(RYGB)rat model is considered to explore such phenomena. The model reproduces human bi-phasic weight-change.Three sets of rats are considered in the experiments, namely, treatment(RYGB),control(Obse)and pair-fed.Long period of observation of more than 120 days is taken, equivalent to 9-year of human life-span.
