Magnesium lithospermate B attenuates hepatocellular apoptosis and inflammatory response in a mouse model of hepatic ischemia reperfusion injury

It has been well proved that acute inflammatory response and hepatocellular apoptosis contributed to the pathogenesis of liver ischemia reperfusion(IR) injury.Magnesium lithospermate B(MLB) is the most abundant component in aqueous extracts of the Salvia miltiorrhiza(”Danshem” in Korean and ”Danshen” in Chinese),which has been used to heal coronary heart disease,cerebrovascular disease,hepatitis,liver cirrhosis and chronic renal failure in the East Asian countries for several centuries.
