The latest Seawater RO technologies of Nitto Denko/Hydranautics
Worldwidewater shortages are serious with an increase in the water demand.Therefore,the remarkable growth of seawater desalination is accomplished in recent years.The Reverse Osmosis (RO) membrane process,which can operate in the energy efficient,occupies more than a half the entire operating capacity of the seawater desalination process.Nitto Denko/Hydranautics has been supplying high performance and quality seawater RO membranes all over the world.The latest technologies of Nitto Denko/Hydranautics enable seawater RO membranes with:1) the highest boron removal; 2) the lowest energy; 3) lower fouling; and 4) higher membrane active area.For examples,the latest products,SWC6 and SWC6 MAX from Nitto Denko/Hydranautics,have the highest permeability in the world in the early 2011.It can reduce 5~15% of energy consumption from conventional seawater RO operation.Moreover,the large diameter (16-inch) RO membrane products can reduce around 10% of initial construction cost.Other Seawater RO membrane products can also reduce desalination cost including membrane and chemical cost better than conventional ones.Thus,the high technologies of Nitto Denko/Hydranautics contribute very much to saving various costs of the seawater RO desalination..Nitto Denko/Hydranautics” higher technologies and some operation results are introduced in this paper and presentation.
