Construction of marine ranching system in Zhangzidao island of Dalian:study on remediation of coastal environment and effect of stock enhancement
Nowadays the important effect of artificial reefs was recognized among academic community on remediation of fishery environment,construction of marine ranching and stock enhancement.From 2003 to 2005,four types of artificial reefs were deployed in 15 sites around Zhangzidao islands,which were 30,000 individuals and reached about 50,000 cubes.Environmental parameters(including salinity,pH,DO,water clarity,temperature,ocean current,NH4-N,NO3-N,NO2-N,PO4-P,COD)were monitored and demersal marine biology resource were surveyed on July,2006 and June,2007.Data show that the average value of salinity,pH,DO,water clarity,inorganic nitrogen,PO4-P,COD in reef areas were 30,8.16,7.28 mg/L,7 m,0.074 mg/L,0.0027 mg/L,0.86gm/L respectively,and that water quality was fine.The stock of Apostichopus japonicus,Strongylocentrotus nudus,and Haliotis discus hannai in unit reef area increased remarkably after broadcasting seeds on bottom.Reef algae were flourishing.The average amount of these three species in unit area before deploying reefs and without reefs were zero,but individual abundance after deploying reefs reached 7.3,6,and 0.3,and total biomass of these three species was 0.058g/cm2.The results indicate that construction of artificial reefs had important function on rehabilitation and restore of marine habitats,enhancement of stock and especially construction of marine ranching of valuable commercial sea species.
