Identification and characterization of phenol-degrading Nocardia sp.strain C-14-1 from the acrylic fiber wastewater
An aerobic bacterial strain C-14-1 was isolated from an acrylic fiber wastewater. The strain was found to belong to Nocardia sp.according to morphological, physiological and its 16S rRNA gene sequence. This strain was able to degrade both alkanes and succinonitrile such as phenol. The bacterium growth was measured by UV spectrophotometer.Result showed, the lag period was extended when increasing the concentration of phenol, but still shorter than that of reported strains. At 35℃ and at log period, the shorter degrading time for 600 mg · L-1 phenol was within 20 h.The degradation of phenol happened in log period and the optimum conditions were 35℃,pH7-8 and aeration.
