The Study and Application of AW-01 Flow Efficiency Coating for Gas Pipelines
To meet the requirement of Chinese West-East Gas Pipeline, AW-01 Flow Efficiency Coating for gas pipelines was developed by the Authors” Institute, which could form smooth film with excellent adhesion, abrasive resistance and chemical resistance. In this paper, laboratory simulated test of drag-reducing efficiency of the AW-01 coating was investigated. Results showed that the Colebrook formula could be used to calculate friction factors on internal pipes as the Reynolds number was in the range of 0.7?05 - 2.28 ?05. Compared with normal industrial pipes, the friction factor of the pipe with AW-01 coating was reduced up to 16.2%; furthermore, the drag梤educing efficiency rose with the increase of the Reynolds number. In 2001 AW?1 coating was applied on the Gang Cang Gas Pipeline in Chinese Da Gang Oil Field, and then two field measurements were conducted in 2001 and 2006 respectively. Results showed that the friction factor of the AW-01 coating coated pipeline were reduced by 31 .0% (Re=1.90?06) and 26.0% (Re=4.65 x 106) respectively. Besides no film was found dropping off during pigging operation demonstrating AW?1 coating could keep its high performance after 5梱ear continuous operation. Thus AW-01 coating was proved to be efficient, enduring and dependable.
