Kinematics of Differential Riemannian Surfaces
Recently, Xie et al.(2012)”1,2” put forward the finite deformation theory ofcontinuous medium whose geometrical status is a general smooth 2-dimensional surfaceembedded in 3-dimensional Euclidian space. The whole theory of 2-dimensional surfaceincludes the kinematics and kinetics. In the present paper, the kinematics of 2-dimensionalsurface is extended to the one that is available to the general p-dimensional surface embeddedin p+1 dimensional Euclidian space. The major contents of the theory include the physical andparametric configurations, surface deformation gradient with its properties, deformationdescriptions and transport theories. In addition, the widely used Stokes formulas in mechanicsof continuous mediums are proved by Stokes formula in differential manifolds.
