Simple Fabrication of PEG-based Chemical Micropatterns for Neural Network Formation
Neural network formation has attracted increasinginterest for applications in neurotoxicology, neurodevelopmentalbiology, and cell-based biosensors which comprise externalmicroelectronic circuits that stimulate and record neural activity. In this paper, we present a simple and efficient method to createa planar PC12 neural network on well-controlled PEG-basedchemical micropatterns which contain a network of regularhexagon units interconnected by microchannels. X-rayphotoelectron spectroscopy, contact angle goniometer andfluorescence microscopy techniques are used to monitor theindividual steps of the patterning process.
