Experimental study of eject and micro-spalling on Metal surface

The ejection process of pure Pb flyer under detonation loading of varied loading rate and amplitude were studied with the help of piezoelectric pin, special optical probe, Asay foil, DPS and optical shadowgraphy. Prescribing the threshold of loading amplitude, a layer of massive material flow between the traditional ejected particles and sample surface was discovered, and it was defined micro-spalling. Formation traditional ejected particles and sample surface was discovered, and it was defined micro-spalling. Formation cavitation and fragmentation may take place very quickly under the tension state of release wave. The mass and velocity of the traditional eject particles may change with the change of loading amplitude and rate, but the total mass of the ejecta including the micro-spalling fragmentations induced melting is about equally.
