Photothermal Effects of Folate Conjugated Gold Nanorods on HepG2 Cells Detected by Atomic Force Microscopy
Photothermal therapy (PTT), as a prospective approach for local cancer treatment, is attracting increasing interest. Gold nanorod has been one kind of competitive candidates in exploitation in PTT. In this paper, folate ligand was conjugated to gold nanorods to increase its biocompatibility, and then, the cytotoxicity of photothermal effects of folate/Au nanorods on HepG2 cells including cell growth inhibition, apoptosis induction, cytoskeleton reorganization, and membrane toxicity was detected.
